Yathursha Ulakentheran is an independent researcher in Northern Sri Lanka with a BA (Hons) in English from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Over the past two years, she has been working on research initiatives that focused on the social, political, and economic struggles of women from peripheral communities including Northern Muslims, Hill-country Tamils in the North, Returnee Refugees of the North, and oppressed caste communities. Her research interests include the subalterns’ narratives of the war, the rural economy, the agrarian question, the land question, labor relations of working women, and co-operatives. She is a co-founder of the Young Researchers’ Network- Sri Lanka Chapter (YRN), and a member of the Jaffna People’s Forum for Peace and Co-existence, and Feminist Collective for Economic Justice (FCEJ)
