Amali Wedagedara

Amali Wedagedara is a feminist political economist. She completed her doctoral studies in Political Science at the University of Hawai’i, Manoa, USA. Her PhD research, Debt and Resistance: A Study of Agrarian Women’s Protests in Sri Lanka, explores the dynamics of private household debt on people and women’s political agency, which reflects both her academic training and activism. Her primary training is in Economics at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and she has a Master’s in International Politics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi, India. She is affiliated with the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) as a Senior Researcher. Her research interests are the political economy of finance, gender and development, and Third World politics.
